Eight of the league’s top power hitters will be going head-head-head over three rounds in Atlanta. Who will claim the chain?

These are the players participating in the 2025 T-Mobile Home Run Derby
The MLB All-Star Game Home Run Derby returns, celebrating 40 years since the first edition back in 1985 - eight of the league’s top sluggers will be battling it out to be crowned 2025 champion in a hard-hitting prelude to Tuesday’s big game.
For the second year running the competition will be staged over three rounds: first round, the semifinals and finals.

Home Run Derby maintains new format
Each of the eight competitors will be allotted a maximum of three minutes or 40 pitches to hit as many home runs as possible. The top four players with the most home run will advance to the semifinals.
The semifinals revert to a knockout format with two matchups - the player with the most home runs in the first round will face the player who finished fourth, while the second and third-best placed players from the first round will complete the other semifinal.
Like the first round, the contest will consist of hitting as many HRs in three minutes or 40 pitches. The winners go through to the final, where the limit will be decreased to two minutes or 27 pitches.

Three sluggers who feature in the top 10 ranking for home runs in the 2025 MLB season, will be taking part: Cal Raleigh, James Wood and Junior Caminero.
Among those who have hit the hardest HRs during the current campaign are: Oneil Cruz (122.9 mph), James Wood (116.3 mph) and Ronald Acuña Jr. (115.5 mph).
Unfortunately we won’t be seeing Ronald Acuña Jr., Aaron Judge, Shohei Ohtani or Kyle Schwarber in this year’s contest. Ohtani explained that it’s “not feasible for him to compete well because of the current format and rules” but he will be suiting up for the National League in Tuesday’s All-Star Game.
