After losing back-to-back games against the Boston Red Sox, the New York Yankees returned to winning ways with a 4-2 win against the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday. However, the victory was somewhat overshadowed by an injury suffered by Aaron Judge.

How did Judge get injured against the Orioles?

The 32-year-old was forced to leave the field after being hit on the back of his left hand in the third inning by a fastball from Albert Suarez, which struck him at 94.1 miles per hour. Judge played center field in the top of the fourth inning but was soon replaced by Trent Grisham, leaving those of a Yankees persuasion fearing the worst.

Judge reveals scan results: what did he say about his injury?

Following the game, however, Judge revealed he had undergone an X-ray and CT scan and the results had come back negative, which meant he had avoided a significant injury. And he is hopeful of being available to play as the teams lock horns once again on Wednesday.

“It’s a big relief,” said the five-time MLB All-Star. “Anytime you get hit by 94-95 (mph) up and in like that, especially in the hands where there’s so many small bones, you just never know what’s going to happen,’’ said Judge. “Getting that good news is a good thing.

“I told (Yankees manager Aaron) Boone I want to be in there tomorrow, so we’ll see.

A collective sigh of relief for the Yankees, although Judge also admitted that he had been hoping to continue playing on Tuesday but had been unable to do so, which suggests his condition will have to improve rapidly if he is to get his way. “I wanted to hit. I was down in the cage, trying to swing but I really couldn’t at the time.’’
