Alex Rodríguez: Suspension will cost Fernando Tatis the Hall of Fame

Legendary New York Yankees player Alex Rodriguez said the suspension of San Diego Padres’ Fernando Tatis Jr. could keep him out of the Hall of Fame.

Estados UnidosUpdate:
Legendary New York Yankees player Alex Rodriguez said the suspension of San Diego Padres’ Fernando Tatis Jr. could keep him out of the Hall of Fame.

Fernando Tatis Jr., infielder for the San Diego Padres, has been in the eye of the storm after receiving an 80-game suspension for violating Major League Baseball rules on prohibited substances. Now, Alex Rodríguez, a historic former player for the New York Yankees, has given his take on the matter.

During his participation in an alternative transmission of ESPN of the last game between the Yankees and Red Sox, Rodríguez declared that young players should learn from his experience and not use prohibited substances because he believes that’s the reason he’s not in Cooperstown.

“I wish that many of these young players, who I admire so much, would learn from my stupidity and my debacle. I almost cried because Tatis is 23 years old and may not get into the Hall of Fame. I will not go to the Hall of Fame for my mistakes.” Rodríguez declared.

The former Yankees player was suspended 211 games after the Biogenesis scandal in August 2013. Following the player’s appeal, his punishment was reduced to 162 games and he missed the entire 2014 season.

What was the Biogenesis scandal?

Biogenesis was an anti-aging clinic based in Coral Gables, Florida, which Rodríguez used to obtain anabolics, testosterone and human growth hormones to improve his performance.

Among the players who were also part of the Biogenesis scandal were Nelson Cruz, Everth Cabrera, Johnny Peralta, Gio González, Melky Cabrera and Ryan Braun.
