Blue Jays stun Dodgers, move within one win of ending 32-year World Series drought
Toronto silenced Dodger Stadium with back-to-back home runs and a dominant Game 5 win, setting up a potential championship celebration at home.

The Toronto Blue Jays shattered expectations and broke a long-standing myth by doing what few believed possible: taking the lead in the World Series at Dodger Stadium. Their 6–1 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 5 gives Toronto two chances to close out the series back home at Rogers Centre.
Los Angeles must regroup quickly for Game 6 if it hopes to extend the series and keep its championship dreams alive.
Historic start sparks Toronto’s momentum
Toronto made history from the first pitch. Davis Schneider launched a leadoff home run, and just a minute later, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. followed with another, marking the first time in more than 120 years that back-to-back home runs opened a World Series game.

The early fireworks silenced the home crowd and put immediate pressure on Dodgers starter Blake Snell, who struggled once again. Snell, a two-time Cy Young Award winner, has now given up 10 runs combined in his two losses to the Blue Jays during this Fall Classic.
Dodgers’ brief hope fades fast
Kiké Hernández tried to rally the Dodgers with a solo homer in the third inning, but the comeback never materialized. The Blue Jays struck again in the fourth when Daulton Varsho scored on a sacrifice fly by Ernie Clement, stretching Toronto’s lead and further quieting the crowd.
By the seventh inning, the Dodgers unraveled completely. A wild pitch allowed Addison Barger to cross home plate, and Bo Bichette added the finishing touch with an RBI single that scored Andrés Giménez, sealing a commanding 6–1 win for Toronto.
Gausman gets the call for Game 6
With the title now within reach, Blue Jays manager John Schneider is turning back to Kevin Gausman for Game 6. Gausman took the loss in Game 2 after allowing three runs in five innings, but Toronto is counting on him to deliver under pressure with the Commissioner’s Trophy on the line.
If the Blue Jays can finish the job at Rogers Centre, they’ll capture their first World Series crown since 1993, and complete one of the most memorable postseason runs in franchise history.
