Update:

The Boston Red Sox (45–45) made history Saturday with a commanding 10–3 victory over the Washington Nationals (37–52), becoming just the fifth franchise in Major League Baseball to reach 10,000 all-time wins.

Boston join the 10,000 club

With the milestone, the Red Sox join an elite club that includes the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees, San Francisco Giants, and St. Louis Cardinals.

Boston’s milestone win was fueled by a well-rounded offensive effort, with key contributions from Romy González, Rob Refsnyder, Roman Anthony, Jarren Duran, and Ceddanne Rafaela.

Rafaela delivered the biggest blow—a two-run homer in the third inning that helped break the game wide open. He later drove in Boston’s 10th run with an RBI double in the eighth, capping off a dominant night at the plate.

On the mound, Walker Buehler picked up his fifth win of the season.

The challenge for Boston? If they don’t start winning their upcoming series over the next two weeks, they risk remaining stuck in the mediocrity of a .500 record—and buried near the bottom of a fiercely competitive AL East.

As it stands, the Red Sox sit at 44–45, 6.5 games behind the division-leading Toronto Blue Jays, who’ve surged to a 50–38 mark behind a six-game win streak.

Red Sox managerial legends: Joe Cronin tops all-time wins ranking

With Saturday’s game in the books, the Boston Red Sox have now played 19,308 regular-season games since their founding in 1901 as the Boston Americans—posting a franchise win percentage of 51.7%.

At the top of the managerial leaderboard stands Joe Cronin, the manager with the most wins in Red Sox history. Cronin led the team for 13 seasons, from 1935 to 1947, and racked up 1,071 victories during his tenure.

Coming in at No. 2 on the list is Terry Francona, who racked up an impressive 744 wins while managing the Boston Red Sox from 2004 to 2011. Even more notably, he led the team to historic World Series victories in 2004 and 2007—ending the franchise’s 86-year championship drought.

As of now, current Red Sox manager Alex Cora has tallied 566 wins and continues to leave his mark on the team’s legacy.
