Cardinals-Pirates game rained out Monday; postponed to June

José Quintana and Zack Thompson will make their Pirates debut on Wednesday vs the Chicago Cubs after the Cardinals-Pirates game was rained out on Monday, leading to June postponement.

The series finale between Pittsburgh and St. Louis at Busch Stadium on Monday afternoon has been rained out, leading to the Cardinals clutching the series with four games now being postponed.

The Cardinals and Pirates will make up Monday’s postponed game with a split double-header on June 14 at 1:15 p.m. ET prior to the originally scheduled 7:45 p.m. ET game.

Following the postponement, the Pirates announced that Zach Thompson (3-7, 3.24 ERA in 2021), who was scheduled to make his Pirates debut Monday, will now do so on Wednesday against the Chicago Cubs.

The Pirates will then begin their second turn through the starting rotation with

JT Brubaker, Mitch Keller, Bryse Wilson, and José Quintana will begin their second turn through the starting rotation for the coming four-game series against the Washington Nationals, as Quintana makes his scheduled Pirates debut against the Cubs on Tuesday.

JT Brubaker will start Thursday, Mitch Keller will go on Friday and Bryse Wilson will start on Saturday.
