The New York Yankees closed the regular season in Major League Baseball in first place in the American League after registering a 94-68 record. This allowed them to secure their ticket to the postseason and rest during the Wild Card Series.

“We have a great opportunity, but we only get it if we play our best baseball,” said Brian Cashman.

The Bronx Bombers face the Kansas City Royals in the Division Series, and manager Brian Cashman acknowledges that they face an unrivaled scenario to aspire to the World Series, which they have not reached since their 27th title in 2009.

“I know we have the ability, but at the same time, I note that we’ve had the ability many times before, and you have to combine that ability with, obviously, great defense, great baserunning, tremendous offensive at-bats against extremely tough pitchers and, obviously, the most important aspect is pitching as well as you can,” he added.

“I truly believe that anyone currently in the tournament has a legitimate chance to lift that trophy,” Cashman said.

He continued, “I think we have the pieces and the will to achieve it, and now we just have to face a very worthy opponent.”

The Yankees, favorites in the American League Series, open the series at home this Saturday at Yankee Stadium.
