Dodgers’ Dave Roberts: “Our guys are hungry for a third straight title”
The Los Angeles manager says watching his players on the field makes him confident they have a real shot at returning to the top of MLB for a three-peat.
The 2026 MLB season is barely underway, and the Los Angeles Dodgers are already considered one of the favorites to win the title again. In that context, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts says his team is hungry for another championship.
Three-peat in the works for the Dodgers
In an interview with La Opinión, Roberts spoke about the energy and focus of his players, making it clear he believes they are ready to compete for a third consecutive title.
“You know what? That’s the goal,” Roberts said when asked if he was ready to chase a three-peat. “Everyone’s talking about a three-peat… our guys understand that it’s a big challenge. But we’re excited for it and we certainly have the roster to do that.”
He explained how he senses the drive every day in the clubhouse and on the field.
“I do sense it,” Roberts said. “I see it because of the work we’re putting in every day. I hear it from the conversations our players have with each other every day. Again, it’s not going to be easy. It’s going to be a long season… a lot of hard work, some ups and downs, but I just think that our guys are very hungry in 2026.”
Roberts emphasized the team’s focus on improvement rather than looking at what other teams are doing.
“The message is basically to keep our blinders on, focus on getting better each day, and not worry about who’s beside us or what teams are chasing us… If we do that and continue to get better each day with the talent we have, I think we’re going to have a good shot.”
The Dodgers’ quest for a three-peat starts today with Opening Day as they host the Arizona Diamandbacks at 8:30 p.m. ET. The game will be nationally broadcast on NBC and Peacock.
