The Los Angeles Dodgers confirmed Monday that Edgardo Henríquez has been recalled ahead of the series against the Twins.

Injuries to the starting rotation have plagued the Los Angeles Dodgers all season, and the team enters its upcoming series riding a three-game losing streak. On Monday, the Dodgers open a new set at Dodger Stadium against the Minnesota Twins, and as part of a roster shake-up, they’ve called up right-hander Edgardo Henríquez while designating Lou Trivino for assignment.
Who is Edgardo Henríquez?
Henríquez, a 23-year-old Venezuelan, missed the start of the season due to a foot injury but was cleared to return on June 29. Since then, he’s pitched in 18 games for Triple-A Oklahoma City, posting a 1-0 record with a 5.89 ERA and 26 strikeouts over 18.1 innings. He made his MLB debut with the Dodgers last season, recording a 2.70 ERA and five strikeouts in 3.1 innings of work.
Originally signed as an international free agent in September 2018, Henríquez has appeared in 106 games across the Dodgers’ system, tallying 238 strikeouts in 171.2 innings. With key arms like Roki Sasaki and Blake Snell sidelined, the Dodgers are urgently looking to reinforce their pitching staff.
The move comes after Trivino gave up two runs in just one-third of an inning during Sunday’s 6-5 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers.

Japanese youngster closing in on comeback
There is, however, some good news on the horizon: Roki Sasaki is nearing a return. The 23-year-old Japanese phenom was placed on the injured list on June 20 with right shoulder discomfort. Manager Dave Roberts confirmed that Sasaki could rejoin the starting rotation by mid-August.
