Update:

Japanese superstar Shohei Ohtani has been named as the Los Angeles Dodgers’ starting pitcher at Rogers Centre today, as the defending MLB champions take on the Blue Jays in the 2025 World Series decider.

The Dodgers took the best-of-seven series into Game 7 on Friday, beating the Blue Jays behind a clutch pitching performance from Ohtani’s countryman, Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Los Angeles’ 3-1 triumph in Toronto prevented the hosts - for now, at least - from clinching their first World Series title since 1993.

Dodgers vs Blue Jays Game 7 - starting pitchers:

  • Dodgers

After plenty of speculation, the Dodgers have opted to start Shohei Ohtani on short rest. Under the two-way rule, starting Ohtani allows him to remain in the game as the designated hitter after exiting as a pitcher.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts has said every pitcher will be available for Game 7 except for Yamamoto.

  • Blue Jays

Veteran Max Scherzer is to be the Blue Jays’ starting pitcher in Game 7. Speaking after Toronto’s defeat on Friday, manager Dave Schneider lauded the 41-year-old as the perfect pick for today’s winner-takes-all clash.

“It’s the two best words in sports: Game 7,” Schneider said, per the Toronto Star. “No better guy to have on the mound to navigate the emotions, the stuff. Max has been getting ready for Game 7 when he knew he was pitching Game 3 so I have all the confidence in the world in him and everyone.”

Dodgers vs Blue Jays: when, where, how to watch?

Game 7 of the 2025 World Series takes place today, Saturday November 1, with first pitch at Rogers Centre set for 8:00 p.m. ET/5:00 p.m. PT. Viewers in the U.S. can watch Game 7 on Fox. Your streaming options include fubo, which offers a free trial.

Who’s the favorite to win Game 7?

Having kept their title hopes alive with victory in Game 6, the Dodgers are now the bookmakers’ favorites to lift the Commissioner’s Trophy for a second straight year. Per Oddschecker, Los Angeles has moneyline odds of -140 to -150, while the Blue Jays are valued at +118 to +125.

Were the Dodgers to complete a series triumph today, they would become the first MLB team to win successive championships since the New York Yankees back in 2000.
