Dodgers vs Mets: Starting pitchers and lineups for NL Championship Series Game 4
Citi Field in Queens, New York City, opens its doors again for Game 4 of the NLCS matchup.
After slipping up in the second game of the best of seven series, the LA Dodgers came roaring back in Game 3, silencing the Mets with an 8-0 shutout at Citi Field as Walker Buehler’s gritty performance set the tone, and the bats finally woke up in a big way, leaving New York scrambling.
Ahead of the third game, the Dodgers were desperate for a big performance after their 33-inning scoreless streak ended. And Buehler delivered the goods. He went four solid innings without giving up a run, and though he wasn’t flawless, his competitive edge kept the Mets from ever getting comfortable. The bullpen took over from there, continuing its October dominance, and by the end of the night, L.A. had notched its fourth shutout in five games.
With the win in Queens, the LA Dodgers now lead the series 2-1, putting them in a commanding position. Teams that win Game 3 in a 1-1 series have gone on to win nearly 70% of the time, and under the 2-3-2 format, that percentage jumps even higher for the team that wins on the road. The Mets will now need to dig deep and try and level the score and prevent L.A. from pushing them to the brink of elimination.
Projected Game 4 Starting Lineups:
Mets:
Mets starting pitcher: Quintana
The 35-year-old Quintana is in fine form and produced an 0.57 ERA over his last eight starts, including one in each of the previous two postseason rounds. The Mets considered starting Quintana in Game 3 but opted to go with Luis Severino. They’re confident that Quintana, who has yet to allow an earned run in the playoffs, can continue his excellent run.
Dodgers
Dodgers starting pitcher: Yamamoto
Japan’s Yoshinobu Yamamoto is set for his first start on the road in the Dodgers’ postseason and will be looking to build off his most important start in the Majors, five scoreless innings against the Padres in Game 5 of the National League Division Series.
