Estados Unidos Update:

After being one of the top names in the 2025 Major League Baseball trade window, which closes today, Eugenio Suárez is back with the Seattle Mariners. The experienced Venezuelan baseball player leaves the Arizona Diamondbacks, after a year and a half with the franchise. Infielder Tyler Locklear, right-handed pitcher Juan Burgos and minor league right-handed pitcher Hunter Cranton have been included in the deal.

Jeff Passan’s report for ESPN indicated that the operation depended on the results of a medical examination. The 34-year-old suffered a knock to his right hand last Monday and his index finger had to be assessed. However, it appeared to be fairly routine, since the D-Backs have already ruled out a fracture after performing a CT scan and an MRI.

Suárez didn’t see any action on Tuesday, but he returned Wednesday as the designated hitter for the Arizona organization, in a 7-2 loss to the Detroit Tigers. The Diamondbacks are on a five-game losing streak, so Detroit brought out the broom for the sweep.

Suárez went 1-for-4 with a double in the game, and now everything points to his next destination being a return to T-Mobile Park, where the Mariners open a four-game series against the Texas Rangers this Thursday.

Seattle onto a winner with Suárez

A team that already boasts players like Cal Raleigh, Randy Arozarena, Julio Rodríguez, Jorge Polanco, and, recently also from the D-backs, Josh Naylor, will now have the addition of a powerful bat like Eugenio Suárez.

The Venezuelan is experiencing a significant moment with 36 HR, 87 RBI, .248 ERA, .320 OBP, and .576 SLG, allowing him to fully integrate into a franchise that is fighting for the American League West.

The Mariners also add a player who, despite his game changing over the years, can still play third base at a significant level if necessary. Seattle’s mission is to pursue the Houston Astros, who lead this region of the Major Leagues.
