Everything to play for as MLB regular season goes to the wire
We’re into the final week of the regular season and with several teams punching their ticket to the playoffs, there is still plenty at stake.

This is the final week of the regular season of the 2025 Major League Baseball season, where there is still much to be decided, mainly in the American League where everything is up in the air and no team has secured the pennant of its division.

The Toronto Blue Jays, Seattle Mariners, and Detroit Tigers are leading their respective divisions, but the New York Yankees, Houston Astros, and Cleveland Guardians are still in contention to seal top billing in the American League.

Out of the three contenders, it appears that the Texans are be the least likely to recapture the lead from Seattle after the weekend’s games sweep left the Mariners with a three-game lead.
Brewers and Phillies march on
In the National League, the Philadelphia Phillies and Milwaukee Brewers have already clinched their divisions, but they could be fighting for first place in the entire National League. The Brewers currently sit atop the league.
However, the Dodgers and Padres still have a fight ahead of them, with the Angels holding a game and a half lead after San Diego’s win over Milwaukee and Los Angeles’ loss in Arizona. In another battle, the Mets, Reds, and Diamondbacks continue their fight for a wild-card spot.

The American League scenarios (after today’s games)
The NY Yankees still have two more games against the Chicago White Sox at home, and then they stay at Yankee Stadium to face the Orioles in their final three-game series.

The Blue Jays have two more games against the Boston Red Sox and will stay at home again to close the season against the Tampa Bay Rays in a three-game series. Toronto holds a one-game lead despite the loss and the Bombers’ win. Both teams have already secured their postseason berths.
In the AL Central, the Guardians and Tigers face off in Cleveland in a must-win series that could determine the pennant winner. Cleveland closes with the Rangers at home and Detroit visiting the Red Sox at Fenway Park. The Guardians moved into a tie for first place after winning the first game 5-2.

In the AL West, the Seattle Mariners have a four-game lead and face the worst team in MLB, the Colorado Rockies, and close out the season at home against the Dodgers. The Astros close with two away games against the Athletics and the Angels. A win tomorrow would clinch Seattle’s pennant.
National League situation
In the National League, the NL West Division remains to be determined. The Dodgers hold the advantage over the Padres. The Dodgers will visit the Diamondbacks and Mariners, while the Padres host the Brewers and D-Backs.
