Fernando Tatis Jr. names the best baseball player in MLB
Injuries have been a constant for the 26-year-old who believes when he is healthy, there is no better baseball player than him.

Major League Baseball teams are preparing for the 2025 season in their respective Spring Training camps. This season, the San Diego Padres are aiming to compete in the National League against the Los Angeles Dodgers and need to ensure their players are in optimum shape, both physically and mentally.

One of the biggest stars for the Padres is unquestionably Fernando Tatis Jr. The Dominican Republic native spoke to San Diego Union-Tribune that he believes there is no better player in MLB than him when he is completely healthy and mentally stable. Injuries have been a constant in his career after he signed his multimillion-dollar extension in February 2021: a torn labrum that same year, followed by a fractured wrist in 2022 and quad discomfort in 2024.

“With all due respect to all the talent out there in Major League Baseball, I acknowledge them, but when I’m 100 percent and my head is in the right place, I feel like there’s no one better than me on the baseball field,” Tatis Jr. said.
Despite this affirmation, the 26-year-old is aware that he needs to continue working to make that a reality because “the players are good in this era of baseball” and that only makes him want to progressively improve to find his best version.

The Dominican baseball player was a two-time Silver Slugger in the first three years of his career and it is undeniable that the power with the bat is still within him. Now, his goal will be to improve the numbers he recorded in the 2024 season.
Tatis Jr. shined during the first half of the season, but after the All-Star break he was sidelined until September due to a leg injury. Despite missing almost 60 games, the San Pedro de Macorís native managed to hit 110 hits in 398 at-bats and his batting average was .276 with 21 home runs and 49 RBIs.
