Houston Astros - Philadelphia Phillies: when is the first game of the World Series, dates and schedule
In what could be considered the most interesting matchup in recent years, we’ve got you covered with the schedule for the 2022 MLB World Series.
With both the ALCS and NLCS now complete, we’ve got a World Series to look forward to and that’s why we’re taking a look at the schedule for MLB’s championship series. Let’s get into it!
The Houston Astros have made winning a habit
If there’s one word to describe the Houston Astros this year, it’s got to be dominant. For the fourth time in six seasons and the second year in a row, Dusty Baker’s men are back in the fall classic. Indeed, the Astros have won seven games in a row to book their pass to baseball’s biggest party. Even better, is the fact that following their sweep of the New York Yankees, the Astros have now earned themselves some extra rest. That will of course come in handy as they prepare to face another formidable team, the Philadelphia Phillies.
The Phillies are the surprise package of the playoffs
As the sixth seed in the National League, the Phillies were the last team to make it into the playoffs. Having just beaten the Padres in five games, they are now set to face the No. 1 seeded team out of the National League. Yet, it must be said, they have no reason to fear. For his part, Bryce Harper has lived up to the hype surrounding him with a 1.351 OPS in the playoffs. Indeed, his shining moment came in Game 5 of the NLCS with a two-run home run in the eighth inning, which effectively punched their ticket. The Phillies have truly surpassed expectation in the post season and will be hoping to continue that trend when the World Series starts on Friday.
What’s the schedule for the 2022 MLB World Series?
With the matchup now set and starting on Friday, October 28th, we couldn’t have asked for a better fall classic. On one side, we have a team that’s perhaps the most well balanced in baseball today, that’s to say ruthless on both offense and defense. On the other, we’ve got a team that seems to just keep getting better and with a bottom order that continues to punch above its weight class, we’re definitely in for a treat. With that said, here is how the schedule for the World Series looks:
