MLB offseason negotiations are still in progress, and there are several notable players available so all 30 teams will be aiming to strengthen their rosters during the Hot Stove.

The Houston Astros' new additions

The ‘star team’ urgently needs to reinforce some positions in the face of the losses they have suffered in recent weeks. It has been revealed that they traded outfielder Kyle Tucker to the Chicago Cubs.

The Astros received three players in the Tucker trade, with Mexican Isaac Paredes the pick of them. In addition to Paredes, the deal also included right-handed pitcher Hayden Wesneski and third base prospect Cam Smith.

Kyle Tucker accumulated 4.2 fWAR in 78 games last season, hitting 23 home runs and stealing 11 bases, with a .993 OPS (181 OPS+).

Mexican Isaac Paredes had a poor performance during his time with the Chicago Cubs. After being acquired from the Tampa Bay Rays in the middle of the season he hit just three home runs, with an OPS of .633 in 52 games.

Paredes could become the Astros' starting third baseman if they can’t retain Alex Bregman, but that’s yet to be determined.

For his part, Hayden Wesneski, made 68 appearances, with 22 starts, with the Cubs in the last three seasons; he achieved an ERA of 3.93 and a WHIP of 1.17.

Finally, third baseman Cam Smith was considered the seventh best-ranked prospect in the Chicago franchise.
