How did Andy Pages find out he was going to play for the Dodgers?

Andy Pages, the Cuban prospect, made his Major League Baseball debut with the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday night. The Dodgers lost 2-0 against the Washington Nationals at Chavez Ravine. Pages were lined up as the seventh batter and played center field in his first appearance with the Los Angeles team.

Unfortunately, Pages did not have the night he would have wanted. He could not get any hits or drive-in runs in three at-bats, contributing to a zero night for the Dodgers’ offense.

After the game, Pages shared how he found out that he was going to play in the Major Leagues and who the first person he called to tell the good news was.

The peculiar story of Andy Pages

I don’t really know what time they called me, but when I finally answered the phone, it was midnight,” Pages said. “I think they started calling me around nine at night. When I received the news, I called my mother in Cuba immediately, and she started yelling at the entire neighborhood, and obviously, she started crying,” added the Cuban prospect.

But I told her to calm down because I was finally going to play in the Major Leagues, and that was what she had always wanted,” he concluded. The 23-year-old player is returning from shoulder surgery and had good appearances in the Cactus League, which did not go unnoticed by manager Dave Roberts.

The Dodgers are facing a significant challenge with their offense as some of their key players are underperforming. Chris Taylor, Kiké Hernández, James Outman, and Jason Heyward, who are dealing with back problems, have not been able to contribute much to the team’s success lately. As a result, Dave Roberts, the Dodgers’ manager, has been forced to search for a solution to this problem.

After careful consideration, Roberts brought in Andy Pages, a talented young player honing his skills in the minor leagues. By adding Pages to the roster, the Dodgers hope to inject much-needed energy and productivity into their offense. Pages has shown much promise in the minor leagues, and the team is confident that he can help them turn things around.
