That‘s when Joe DiMaggio’s Yankees clinched victory over the Dodgers, a franchise then based in Brooklyn, in the teams’ first ever World Series clash. Over the next 13 years, the Yankees continued their dominance, securing four more championships against the Dodgers.

Despite repeated setbacks, loyal Dodgers fans held onto the optimistic refrain, “Wait till next year.” Their patience was rewarded in 1955, when the team triumphed over the Yankees, claiming their first and only title during their time in Brooklyn, the greatest achievement for the franchise up to that moment.
