Julio Urías’ future remains a mystery - just like his legal situation, the accusations of domestic violence are also unresolved - that unpleasant episode was the reason behind him being removed from the Los Angeles Dodgers roster. The Mexican pitcher was placed on administrative leave in September, the first move to being completely frozen out. But despite all of that, he remains one of the best free agent pitchers available.

How much money did Julio Urías earn with the Los Angeles Dodgers in the MLB?

With the Los Angeles Dodgers he remained one of the great references from the pitching mound during eight years. He obtained outstanding statistics such as being leader of the National League in games won during the 2021 season, he was the leader in effectiveness during the following campaign and was a pillar in obtaining the Californian franchise’s last World Series.

Julio Urías' annual earnings in MLB

  • 2018 $550,000
  • 2019 $565,000
  • 2020 $1 million
  • 2021 $3.6 million
  • 2022 $8 million
  • 2023 $14.25 million

During his time with the Dodgers, Urías saw his his annual pay packet rise year-on-year - multiplying his salary in just four years, all thanks to results and his performance levels. In his third year, he was able to take a big leap to earn a six-figure sum for the first time (in the first two years he received just over half that - 550 and 565 thousand dollars).

His first big six-figure contract (for $1 million) was signed in 2020 - a one-year arbitration deal in a campaign that was shortened due to the Covid-19 pandemic. His outstanding performances earned him another one-year extension in 2021 for a basic salary of $3.6 million.

From there, his income continued to grow, reaching a maximum of $14.25 million until it was interrupted last year by the scandal in which he was involved and which has kept him away from Major League activity.
