The Los Angeles Dodgers have been crowned champions of the 2024 MLB World Series after defeating the Yankees in New York City. In as bizarre a game as you will every see, they beat the New York Yankees 7-6 in Game 5 to secure the franchise’s eighth title.

After coming back from a five-run deficit, taking advantage of several Yankees errors, the Dodgers thrilled their fans just as they did in Game 1, where Freeman made history in the tenth inning with the first walkoff Grand Slam in the history of the World Series, securing victory for Los Angeles.

As is tradition, each year the Most Valuable Player is handed out, and in 2024, the Willie Mays World Series MVP Award could go to no one other than Freddie Freeman, who recorded a .300 batting average, 4 home runs, and 12 RBIs.

The MVP award was first presented in 1955 as the SPORT Magazine Award. Currently, it is decided during the final game of the Series. The selection is made by a committee of reporters and officials present at the game.

Previously, the World Series MVP trophy resembled the Commissioner’s Trophy. However, in 2017, after being renamed in honor of Willie Mays, the trophy was redesigned for the 2018 edition onward as a wooden pedestal featuring a bronze sculpture of Mays making his iconic catch in the 1954 World Series.

How much does Freddie Freeman, the MLB World Series MVP, earn?

The recognition as the Most Valuable Player in Major League Baseball does not come with a specific cash prize from the MLB itself.

However, players typically receive bonuses from their teams or sponsors related to winning the award; for example, this year, the MVP award was sponsored by Chevrolet.

Bonuses can vary widely depending on the winner’s contracts and individual agreements. Some teams offer bonuses for performance, winning the MVP award, or being selected for the All-Star team. The exact amount of bonuses can vary from player to player.

In terms of his fortune, according to Celebrity Net Worth, a site specializing in estimating the net worth of celebrities and athletes, Freddie Freeman has a net worth of $80 million. He debuted in the MLB with the Braves in 2010, signing an eight-year, $135 million contract in 2014. He played 11 seasons with the Braves before being traded to the Dodgers, with whom he signed a six-year, $162 million contract in March 2022.
