How much prize money will the Dodgers players get for beating the Blue Jays in the 2025 MLB World Series?
The Los Angeles Dodgers are back-to-back World Series champions, after edging out the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 7 on Saturday.

This year’s World Series prize money is yet to be confirmed, but experts are predicting that the Los Angeles Dodgers’ players could each take home a share of a record-setting postseason pool.
Dodgers go back to back
The Dodgers were crowned World Series champions for the second straight year on Saturday, after a 5-4 win over the Toronto Blue Jays gave Dave Roberts’ men victory in the best-of-seven series’ deciding game. Los Angeles is the first team to lift the Commissioner’s Trophy in back-to-back seasons since the New York Yankees claimed a third consecutive MLB crown back in 2000.

How does playoffs prize money work?
Every year, the teams that progress beyond the regular season each receive a portion of MLB’s playoff compensation pool - a fund that comes out of gate receipts taken throughout the postseason.
According to MLB, the pool “is formed from 50 percent of the gate receipts from the Wild Card Games; 60 percent of the gate receipts from the first three games of the Division Series; 60 percent of the gate receipts from the first four games of the League Championship Series; and 60 percent of the gate receipts from the first four games of the World Series.”
Each team’s share of the playoff pool depends on how far it advanced in the postseason. The World Series winners get the largest chunk: 36%. The World Series runners-up receive 24%.
The players on each team then vote on how to divide up their franchise’s postseason payout, which is distributed among individuals as full or partial shares. Players typically get a full share, but must also decide “how many full or partial shares to award to other club personnel”, the MLB explains.
How much did the Dodgers players get in 2024?
In 2024, an unprecedented postseason compensation pool of just under $129.1 million was divided up among the 12 playoff teams in MLB. Per figures shared by the league, the Dodgers distributed 79 full shares of their portion of the prize money - worth $477,440.70 per person - after beating the Yankees in the World Series.
Last season’s pool obliterated the league’s previous record, set in 2023, when the Texas Rangers earned the largest share of a $107.8 million overall fund.
2025 pool could set a new record
Given that the Dodgers boast the largest home arena in MLB - Dodger Stadium holds 56,000 spectators - the team’s repeat presence throughout this year’s postseason means the 2025 pool is expected to challenge 2024’s fund as the biggest in league history.
“The Dodgers produce the most per-game ticket revenue in the sport, thanks to the only stadium in MLB with a capacity of 50,000 or more, and ticket prices that are neck-and-neck with the New York Yankees for the highest in baseball,” notes Sportico’s sports-valuations expert Kurt Badenhausen.
