How much will Shohei Ohtani earn per day? Per hour?

The announcement of a jaw-dropping mega-deal between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Shohei Ohtani will make your eyes water.

When Shohei Ohtani went on the market, everyone knew that the numbers would be huge. Record-breaking even. But the half-billion dollar glass ceiling that was unofficially seen as virtually unassailable ahs been not only reached and breached, but blown away as if it were nothing.

Finalized details of the full contract are not yet known, but with reports widely pegging it at ten years and $700 million, we wondered how that would break down into more bite-sized chunks.

The deal will reportedly include deferrals which will alter the fine print, but in large strokes, the deal would be $70 million per year for the Japanese phenom.

In our own lives, we tend to get paid weekly or monthly, so for comparison, Ohtani will take home $1,346,153 per week, or $5,833,333 per calendar month.

If you are a worker who is paid a daily rate, you may want to compare your takings to Ohtani’s $191,780 per day. And based on a 40-hour work week, Shohei will be clocking in at $33,653 per hour. Not bad work if you can get it!
