Is Carlos Rodón’s starter position in danger after a third loss in a row against the Braves?
The Yankees starting pitcher allowed seven of the Atlanta team’s eight runs and suffered his fourth loss of the year in the major leagues.
The New York Yankees (51-27) suffered their third consecutive loss when they were beaten 8-1 by the Atlanta Braves (42-31) at Yankee Stadium due to a problematic opening by Carlos Rodón.
The Yankees starter allowed seven of the eight runs the Braves scored during his pitch work. Rodón suffered home runs from Ozzie Albies, Austin Riley, and Matt Olson. The first two came in the initial inning to make the score 3-0, while Olson’s came in the fourth inning and propelled Albies.
The only run that fell and was not Rodón’s fault was the eighth after a fielding error by Jahmai Jones after a double by Sean Murphy. After that, Aaron Boone replaced the 31-year-old pitcher with Venezuelan Yoendrys Gómez.
The second year of ‘Los’ in the ‘Big Apple’ has been good since he has improved his numbers compared to his first campaign in New York, but not enough to have an ERA like the one he had in his final year with the Chicago White Sox. Now, Rodón has an ERA of 3.86, but in his best year, he managed to lower it to 2.37.

He comes out, and the relievers control the New York woods
The starting pitchers’ work was utterly opposite this afternoon at Yankee Stadium. Chris Sale, former Boston Red Sox player, pitched five full innings for the Braves and recorded eight strikeouts despite allowing the Yankees’ only run.
Volpe, Soto, and Judge came up to bat in the ninth inning against Grant Holmes. The first was successful with a line to the center, but ‘La Fiera’ was taken out of circulation after hitting a fly ball directly into Adam Duval’s mitt. It all ended when Aaron Judge hit a soft grounder to second base, culminating in a double play.
