Juan Soto breaks Yankees’ losing streak with 20th home run
The Dominican player hit his twentieth home run of the year to help the Yankees break their four-game losing streak.
The New York Yankees recovered from a four-game losing streak by beating the Toronto Blue Jays 15-5 in the second game of the series against in Canada.
The turning point was Juan Soto’s home run in the sixth inning. The Dominican slugger came to the plate with the Pinstripes trailing 3-1. Jahmai Jones and Anthony Volpe were on the bases when he hit his 20th home run of the year to turn the game around.
From there, the Yankees never looked back. First J. D. Davis drove in Aaron Judge with a double to left field and Gleyber Torres rediscovered his best version by hitting a two-run HR before finishing the sixth.
Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. tried to keep the game competitive with solo homers in the sixth and seventh, but it wasn't enough. New York added two runs in the eighth with hits by Alex Verdugo and DJ LeMahieu.
The New York bats thundered in the ninth
If the sixth inning had been exceptional for the ‘Bronx Bombers’, the Yankees earned that nickname in the ninth inning by adding seven more runs.
Tim Mayza came on in relief in the final inning and Aaron Judge was responsible for producing two more with a line drive to left field that Jones and Volpe scored with. Oswaldo Cabrera was in charge of adding the 12th run to the board with a double. Gleyber Torres came on and hit a sacrifice fly to send The Judge home. The last three runs were produced by Verdugo, Treviño and Jones.
