Update:

Pitcher Clayton Kershaw has announced that he is to retire at the end of the 2025 Major League Baseball season, bringing an end to a nearly two-decade career spent in its entirety with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Kershaw signed on for his 18th MLB campaign during spring training earlier this year, and even then, the legendary left-hander hinted that 2025 might be his final ride with the Dodgers.

Now 37, Kershaw has battled through injuries that sidelined him for much of the 2024 campaign. But in 2025, he’s returned to form, contributing meaningfully to the Dodgers’ rotation.

This Friday, he’s scheduled to make his final regular-season start at Dodger Stadium, facing off against the San Francisco Giants.

Kershaw a Hall of Famer-to-be

There’s no doubt Kershaw is headed for Cooperstown. His résumé is one of the most decorated in modern baseball: two World Series championships (2020, 2024), three National League Cy Young Awards, 11 All-Star selections, and the 2014 NL MVP.

He also earned the prestigious Roberto Clemente Award in 2012 for his exemplary character and community involvement.

Over the course of his career, Kershaw has posted a remarkable 2.54 ERA - currently the best among active pitchers and one of the lowest in MLB history.

This season, he reached two major milestones: becoming just the 20th pitcher in league history to record 3,000 career strikeouts, and joining Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer as the only active pitchers with 200 career wins.
