Look out, Aaron Judge: Cal Raleigh closing in on record
Seattle Mariners catcher Raleigh hits 60th homer of the season, aiming to topple Judge’s American League record with three games left.

Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh is having a breakout season and is threatening Aaron Judge’s American League single-season home run record.
Judge’s record of 62 home runs in an AL season is now in jeopardy. Raleigh has emerged as one of the most exciting surprises in Major League Baseball this year, putting him in position to challenge the Yankees slugger’s reign.

Mariners star joins all-time home run elite
On Wednesday, Raleigh hit his 60th home run of the season, placing him among some of baseball’s greatest sluggers, including Barry Bonds (73), Mark McGwire (70/65), Sammy Sosa (66/64/63), Aaron Judge (62), Roger Maris (61), and Babe Ruth (60).
Raleigh also made history as the first catcher in MLB history to surpass 60 home runs in a season. With three games remaining, he has a shot at matching or breaking Judge’s American League record.
Cal Raleigh becomes strong MVP contender
Raleigh has emerged as the front-runner for the American League Most Valuable Player award, even ahead of Judge. His stats back it up, despite the outstanding season Judge has had with the Yankees.
Only Kyle Schwarber of the Philadelphia Phillies, with 132 RBIs, has more than Raleigh, who has 125. Raleigh leads the league in home runs and RBIs, though Judge still holds the edge in batting average, fueling the debate over who deserves the MVP crown.
Raleigh chases history against the Dodgers
Raleigh will have three more games against the Los Angeles Dodgers to chase or potentially surpass Judge’s record for most home runs in an American League season.
