MLB ‘Field of Dreams’ game: What time and how to watch TV and online
In its second edition, the league will be hoping that now that they’ve ‘built it,’ the fans will come for what once again promises to be a very special game.
If you’re a baseball fan and you grew up in the 80s, there’s no way you didn’t see the famous ‘Field of Dreams’ film. Now in its second year MLB will once again have a game using the film’s name staged on that very same diamond in the middle of a corn field.
MLB bets on the ‘Field of Dreams’ game once again
When MLB held the Field of Dreams Game last year, it was without doubt a huge success. So many fans watched the Yankees–White Sox matchup, that it was in fact Fox Sports’ most-watched MLB broadcast in the regular season since 2005. Now in its second year, the league will be hoping to replicate similar numbers when the Cincinnati Reds face the Chicago Cubs on August 11, 2022. Speaking after the official promotional graphic for the game was released (see below), Cubs heavy hitter Patrick Wisdom couldn’t hide his excitement. “People started sending that to me,” Wisdom said with a smile. “I was like, ‘Wait, really?’ That kind of caught me by surprise. I’m super excited. I think it’s going to be really fun.”
Where is MLB’s ‘Field of Dreams’ Game going to be played?
As it was in the classic 1989 film ‘Field of Dreams’ and just last year as well, the special game will be played in Dyersville, Iowa, on a field that was built in the middle of a cornfield. Indeed, since Oscar winner Kevin Coster first ‘built it so that they’d come,’ the field has become a tourist attraction where many baseball fans come on pilgrimage.
