Mookie Betts with numbers similar to Babe Ruth’s
Dodgers shortstop Mookie Betts maintains Major Leagues legend Babe Ruth’s numbers in the past days.
The Los Angeles Dodgers have had an exceptional start to the Major League Baseball season. They currently hold a 4-2 record and are second in the National League West. One player who has particularly stood out is Mookie Betts, who is making a strong case for being the team’s best hitter.
Mookie Betts has recently changed his position on the baseball field, now playing shortstop. He has been performing exceptionally well, with an impressive .500 batting average, 1.757 OPS, 2 doubles, 4 home runs, and 10 RBIs in 22 at-bats.
According to OptaSTATS, Betts has become only the second player in Major League history to achieve at least nine hits, nine RBIs, six walks, and four home runs in a single game. This feat is similar to that of Babe Ruth, who achieved the same from July 28 to 31 in 1932.
“He has had a great start to the season. As simple as that. He is proving that learning a new position, possibly the most difficult on the field, has no bearing on the offense. I think he’s unique in that sense,” said Dodger manager Dave Roberts.
