Mexico vs Puerto Rico preview

Mexico’s 10-3 victory over Canada on Wednesday was encouraging. They had a rocky start to the tournament, losing to Colombia in extra innings in their opener, but they made a dominant comeback, beating the USA, Great Britain, and Canada to take them to 3-1 in the tournament.

Puerto Rico finished second in Pool D with dominant wins over Nicaragua, Israel, and the Dominican Republic. Their only loss came against the Pool D leaders, Venezuela. They have finished second in their last two WBCs and now they’ll hope to advance even further, with a win over Mexico first on their list. Unfortunately, their closer Edwin Díaz suffered an injury to his right knee after the final out.

The winner of the Mexico vs Puerto Rico game will advance to play Cuba in Semifinal 1 on Sunday, March 19.
