Rangers vs Diamondbacks summary online: stats, scores and highlights | MLB World Series Game 4 highlights
Rangers 11-7 Diamondbacks
Rangers make emphatic statement, one win from historic title
The Texas Rangers are perhaps the Rodney Dangerfield of Major League Baseball. They are a supremely powerful team and yet apologists find every reason in the book to explain not why Texas wins, but why their opponents lose. No respect.
The Rangers are an outstanding team, both in offense and from the bullpen. They have in fact have been head and shoulders above everyone else for most of the 2023 regular season. Yet they are still dogged by a general feeling in the press and among baseball fans that they are punching above their weight.
After walking off a thriller in Game 1, they were humiliated at home in Game 2. A low scoring pitching duel in Game 3 gave the Rangers a win, but still the predictions of their demise hound them. So perhaps Texas felt a need to flex their muscles a little.
They went berserk in Game 4, scoring five runs in the second and third innings, becoming the first team in World Series history to score five or more runs in consecutive innings. The Rangers are now just one win away from their first ever title. And even now, respect is withheld by the rest of the league, or perhaps only begrudgingly given.
This display of offense was put on in the wake of news that Texas' power hitting talisman, Adolis Garcia, is out of the World Series with an oblique strain. At the same time, Andrew Heaney stepped up in a big way, throwing five innings, surrendering only one run as news came down that Max Scherzer is also done for the season.
Texas should be reeling under the loss of a key arm and a hot bat. But no. They have found reserves where none should be. Along the way, they have taken on the very best in the American League and beaten them, often dismantling them entirely. Now they stand just a win away from winning it all.
With this Game 4 victory, the Rangers are now 10-0 on the road in the post season, a feat no other team in history has managed.
Now they go into one more road game, the final one in Chase Field, needing only one victory to seal the deal. Game 5 will see both teams go to their aces, with Nathan Eovaldi and Zac Gallen squaring off in what should be another thriller. Should the Rangers pull off the win, they will have put up one of the most stunning post season runs in baseball history. And that deserves respect.
But if the media and fans around the league refuse to give that respect to them, the Rangers have shown that they have no problem simply going and taking it.

PITCHING
Andrew Heaney has had a rollercoaster of a season, with both exceptional and less-than-desirable performances. This inconsistency has left fans in a perpetual state of uncertainty, and Bruce Bochy is hoping for more Billy Chapel and less Wild Thing tonight.
Arizona will need a little more from Joe Mantiply than the 15 pitches that he was able to produce in his last bullpen appearance. While those 15 outstanding, durability is the top quality of a starter, and Torey Lovullo knows that although his bullpen can withstand such a move, it would be better all around if he could hold off three or four innings before dipping into his reserves.
WELCOME!!!
Welcome to the Diario AS USA live commentary of Game 4 of the 2023 World Series between the Texas Rangers and the Arizona Diamondbacks from Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona.
The perfecto on the road continues for the Texas Rangers and they will be looking to inch one game closer to becoming World Series champions for the first time in their history. The Arizona Diamondbacks are not a team to be fazed by being down in the series, with the ability to come back big as they did in Game 2 coupled with a well-earned “Answerbacks” reputation.
The formula has worked all season for both teams, so don’t expect either side to change much for tonight. Sometimes the big hits don’t land for the Rangers and sometimes the small ball doesn’t pay off for the D-backs, but overall these two teams have a justified faith in their respective game plans.
The developing story line that could make things interesting is one of injury, with both Adolis Garcia and an already-hobbling Max Scherzer exiting Game 3 hurt, that could come back to play a role in the ongoing series.
Both teams will be running a bullpen game tonight, something that is neither new nor unusual for either. Arizona have made their way through the season with only three starters in their rotation, and the Rangers have spent more than half of the season filling gaps for injured players.
After Scherzer was pulled early in Game 3, tonight’s projected starter, Jon Gray, was used for three innings, leaving a gap that they are hoping Andrew Heaney can fill.
Arizona will go with Joe Mantiply and will hope to get a little more than usual work out of him tonight.
