Report: Juan Soto will receive another offer from the Nationals
After three rejections by Soto, the Washington Nationals chose to listen to offers for the player. However, they will make one last effort to keep him.
As the August 2 deadline for major league trades in MLB approaches, it seems that Juan Soto’s fate lies far from Washington. However, the Nationals will make one last effort to retain the Dominican.
According to information from Héctor Gómez of the Dominican newspaper Hoy, the franchise from the capital will make one last offer to Soto. If the outfielder rejects the contract, the Nats will finally give up and exchange him.
At the moment, the conditions of the reported new agreement are unknown.
Three rejections’ a charm
Before the start of the regular season, Soto turned down a 13-year, $350 million deal offered by his team. Subsequently it was reported that he rejected a second unspecified proposal. Finally, he declined a deal of 15 seasons and $440 million.
At the time of the last rejection, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reported that the Nationals put Soto on the trade block. Washington chose to get rid of the 23-year-old under the argument that if he rejected 440 million, he would never sign up with them.

Since Soto’s availability became known, the San Diego Padres have been mentioned as one of his possible destinations. More recent information, courtesy of Buster Olney of ESPN, assures that San Diego is the favorite club to keep the Dominican.
It was previously reported that the Yankees and Mets were in talks with Soto. However, the negotiations stalled due to requests from Washington.
