Seattle Mariners’ outfielder Víctor Robles issues apology to explain outburst that left with a 10-game suspension
The player has been suspended and fined for launching his bat at an opponent. He is planning to appeal the decision.
Seattle Mariners outfielder Víctor Robles was handed a 10-game suspension and issued an undisclosed fine Tuesday for swinging his bat at a pitcher during a minor league game last weekend.
The Dominican, is currently with the Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers of the Pacific Coast League while he recovers from a shoulder injury. His last MLB appearance was in the 4-5 defeat to the Giants on April 6

Any suspension must be served at the MLB level, meaning he will miss games once he's reinstated from the injured list.
Robles apology
Robles took to social media to apologize for his outburst. “I want to take a moment to sincerely apologize for my recent reaction on the field,” he posted on Instagram. “I let my frustration get the best of me, and I understand how that may have affected not just the game, but the energy and respect we all work so hard to maintain.
“Coming off a long rehab and being away from the game for most of the season has been physically and mentally challenging. Adding to that, the recent passing of my mother has been incredibly hard, and I’ve been doing my best to hold it together. That’s not an excuse, but some context I feel you deserve to understand where I’m coming from.”
Seattle had planned to recall Robles next week, but will now have to reassess the situation following his suspension.
It is believed that the player will appeal the decision with the ope of having his suspension reduced. Robles must serve his suspension at Major League level.
