Shohei Ohtani gets first hit of the season in Tokyo Series and scores a run to put the Dodgers ahead of the Cubs
The Japanese superstar got a hit when the Dodgers needed it most to ignite a fifth inning comeback against the Cubs

The 2025 MLB season is officially underway and Shohei Ohtani and the Dodgers are doing what everyone expected them to do: win. It’s still only the sixth inning, but once the Cubs’ starter Shota Imanaga got pulled after 4 innings with no hits, no runs, the Dodgers started to get their offense moving.

Ben Brown came in to pitch for the Cubs in the top of the fifth inning and the right-hander started off striking out Rojas, then walked Pages. Then hometown hero Shohei Ohtani came up to bat and got his first hit of the season (and the first for the Dodgers), sending Pages to third base with a hard hit shot between first and second base. Tommy Edman singled to left field, getting the game-tying RBI and moving Ohtani to second base. Teoscar Hernández grounded into a fielder’s choice, but Ohtani scored the go-ahead-run on a throwing error. Will Smith then singled to left field driving in Hernández for the third run.
