The last Cy Young Award winner approaches the Dodgers
Blake Snell could be the last reinforcement of the Los Angeles franchise before the start of the 2024 Major League Baseball season.
Despite spending over a billion dollars during the winter market, the Los Angeles Dodgers did not finalize their roster before the start of the 2024 Major League Baseball season.
Blake Snell, who won the Cy Young Award last year, is still a free agent and looking for a team. The right-hander previously played for the San Diego Padres and has won two Cy Young Awards during his career.
Although it would be a bold move for the Dodgers to add Snell to their roster, given the number of pitchers they already have, they are still interested in him as they have funds available for signings.
Subliminal message from Blake Snell
The two-time Cy Young Award winner’s social media account featured a subtle message hinting at an upcoming offer from the Dodgers. Reports suggest that the Los Angeles executives are close to reaching an agreement with Blake Snell on the salary he is asking to pitch for Chávez Ravine in 2024.
Snell seems keen to play for Los Angeles and win the World Series this season, and he is willing to take a pay cut to achieve that. Despite having other offers on the table, Snell’s heart is set on playing for the Dodgers.
If the Dodgers sign him, they will have to adopt a six-pitching rotation to start the season since Walker Buehler and Clayton Kershaw will be on the injured list for the next 60 days. The negotiation will be challenging, but adding Blake Snell to their team would strengthen them and increase their chances of winning the World Series in 2024.
