Bellinger opts out of his contract
According to multiple reports, the Bronx Bombers have already submitted a second offer to the outfielder after he hit free agency. Bellinger received the team’s first proposal last week, signaling that the Yankees’ interest in retaining him remains strong.
Last season, Bellinger posted a .272/.334/.480 slash line with 29 home runs, 98 RBIs, and 4.9 fWAR across 152 games. Those numbers have made him one of the most sought‑after players on the market, and the Yankees aren’t the only club trying to land him.

Along with the “Mules of Manhattan,” the Chicago Cubs — Bellinger’s most recent team — as well as the New York Mets, Los Angeles Dodgers, and San Francisco Giants are all reportedly in the mix as potential landing spots.
