The New York Yankees (48-21) have greatly improved their hitting compared to last year, and tonight, they surpassed one hundred home runs in the 2024 MLB season during their win over the Kansas City 10-1 Royals (39-29).

Prior to today’s matchup, the Yankees had accumulated 98 home runs, and those in charge of exceeding the hundred were Austin Wells, Aaron Judge, and Giancarlo Stanton. In the Major Leagues, there is only one other team with more than 100 home runs, and they are the Baltimore Orioles, divisional rivals of the Yankees, with 105.

Wells hit a three-run home run, his second of the year, in the fourth inning with Gleyber Torres and Stanton in the corners of the diamond.

Standing ovation for Aaron Judge

The hundredth home run came thanks to Judge, the Major Leagues leader in that area. With Juan Soto on first base after a walk, the “Judge” opened Kauffman Stadium for his twenty-fifth home run of the season in the seventh inning of the duel against the Royals. Reliever Nick Anderson tried to fool ‘The Judge’ with a curveball that traveled 82.6 miles per hour, but the ‘Bronx Bombers’ outfielder hit it 436 feet from the plate.

After a flyout by Alex Verdugo, Stanton hit the Yankees’ 101st HR in 2024. New York’s designated hitter sent the ball in the same direction, and with this ball, the NL MVP of the 2017 season hit his 16th home run of the current campaign.
