This is Charlise Castro: Meet the wife of Blue Jays DH George Springer

The Toronto Blue Jays are aiming to lift their first World Series title in 32 years and George Springer could be the man to help them achieve it.

It was his 3-run HR in Game 7 against the Mariners that sent the Blue Jays to this year’s World Series - and his 23rd career postseason homer, tied with Kyle Schwarber for the third most HRs in postseason history. He also holds the record for the most HRs in a World Series - 5, tied with Chase Utley and Reggie Jackson.

And Springer knows how it feels to win a World Series - he was part of the Houston Astros side that defeated the Dodgers, ending the series with 11 for 29 with 7 RBI and picking up the MVP.

Meet George Springer’s wife Charlise

Cheering on from the sidelines when the Blue Jays face the Dodgers at Rogers Centre in Toronto this evening will be his wife Charlise, who he met while studying at university.

George and Charlise started dating in 2011 after meeting at a sporting event at the University of Connecticut. However, their romance quickly turned into a long-distance relationship. Springer was selected by the Astros in the first round, with the 11th overall selection, in the 2011 MLB draft and was constantly on the move, briefly based in New York then over on the west coast before moving to Houston.

Graduation and an MBA

Charlise, who is a couple of years younger, remained in New York to focus on her studies in communications and her own sporting activities at the University of Albany, graduating in 2015.

The following year, George proposed while the couple were vacationing in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico and they tied the knot at at The Resort at Pelican Hill, Newport Beach, California on January 20, 2018.

Charlise enjoyed a brief career as a softball player, representing Puerto Rico’s national team but she is now dedicated to her professional career as a personal fitness trainer.

The perfect family unit

The Springers welcomed their first child, George Chelston Springer IV, in November 2020 and a daughter, Sophia, in July 2023. Their family life is occasionally shared on social media, with Charlise’s posts on Instagram.
