Baseball fans can now enjoy a high-tech sneak peek at the Athletics’ future stadium, at a new BallPark Experience Center opened in Las Vegas this week.

“Step inside the A’s vision”

Housed in UnCommons, a 40-acre event space located around a 20-minute drive from the stadium construction site, the BallPark Experience Center is headlined by the Immersive Cube: a virtual-reality depiction of the $2bn, 33,000-capacity ballpark.

The Immersive Cube “turns walls, floors, and ceilings into a seamless 270° digital canvas”, the Athletics explain, adding: “Visitors step inside the A’s vision, walking through the future ballpark in vivid 3D and exploring interactive elements that bring the energy of the game to life.”

Open since Tuesday, Dec. 2, BallPark Experience Center also includes a detailed architectural model of the future stadium, as well as a range of interactive displays. These “experiential exhibits” include “memorabilia, bobbleheads, and artifacts that celebrate the team’s history and fan traditions”, the franchise says.

When are the Athletics moving into their new stadium?

The center piece of the Athletics’ planned relocation from Oakland to Las Vegas, the new ballpark is being built on the south end of the iconic Las Vegas Strip.

Designed by the Danish architect Bjarke Ingels, the project broke ground in June this year. The arena is slated for completion in time for the 2028 MLB season, when the Athletics are due to begin life in Sin City.

A franchise that has won four World Series titles, most recently in 1989, the Athletics were based in Oakland, California, from 1968 to 2024. Ahead of the team’s 2028 move to Nevada, it has relocated to an interim base in West Sacramento, California.
