Two in two days: New York Yankees pull off another trade
One day after taking Ryan McMahon to the Big Apple, the New York Yankees confirmed another signing on Friday.

Just one day after acquiring Ryan McMahon from the Colorado Rockies, the New York Yankees have made another splash - this time landing infielder Amed Rosario in a trade with the Washington Nationals. The Yankees were the first to confirm the deal.
According to MLB.com’s Jon Heyman, New York sent right-hander Clayton Beeter and outfield prospect Browm Martínez to Washington in exchange for Rosario. Beeter, ranked as the Yankees’ No. 20 prospect by MLB Pipeline, has already seen big-league action, appearing in five games between 2024 and 2025. Martínez, an 18-year-old outfielder from Santo Domingo, has played 56 games over two seasons in the Dominican Summer League, slashing .320 with 55 hits in 172 at-bats.

What does Amed Rosario bring to the Yankees?
Rosario has had limited playing time in 2025, which made him expendable for the Nationals. The former Mets, Guardians, Dodgers, Rays and Reds infielder is hitting .273 this season, with 40 hits in 148 at-bats across 46 games.
But the Yankees’ interest in Rosario goes beyond his bat. The 29-year-old Dominican is valued for his defensive versatility. While he’s primarily a third baseman, Rosario has experience at shortstop and second base, and could even serve as an emergency outfielder - especially relevant given Aaron Judge’s recent injury.
This move adds depth and flexibility to a Yankees roster that’s clearly going all-in for a postseason push. With Rosario and McMahon now in the fold, New York is reinforcing both its infield and its bench with experienced, adaptable talent.
