The matchup is one of the most anticipated in the tournament thanks to the star power on both sides. Players such as Aaron Judge, Paul Skenes and Bryce Harper headline the American roster, while the Dominican lineup features stars including Juan Soto and Julio Rodríguez.
But historically, the numbers show that the Dominican Republic has had the upper hand in this rivalry.

However, Team USA got their revenge later in the tournament.

The most recent meeting between the teams came in March 2017, when the United States eliminated the defending champions with a 6-3 win in the second round.
