What MLB teams have multiple World Series titles?
The Yankees compete this season against the Dodgers for their twenty-eighth World Series title, making them the USA’s most successful sports franchise.
Last season, the Rangers reached the 2023 World Series and won their first-ever championship, defeating the Arizona Diamondbacks in five games.
The Rangers joined the ranks of several other teams that have won the World Series just once: with their last pennant, there are now 4 single-title holders, including the Angels, Nationals, and Diamondbacks.
However, it will take the Rangers, or any other team, a long, long time to catch up with the team with the most titles in Major League Baseball.
New York Yankees reign supreme
The New York Yankees have an astounding total of 27 trophies. They won the first one just over a hundred years ago in 1921, and they had their last victory in 2009.
The St. Louis Cardinals are a distant second with 11 World Series titles. They are followed by the Athletics and the Boston Red Sox, who have nine each, followed by the Giants with eight, and the Dodgers with seven.
Bottom of the list
On the lower side of the table, the Texas Rangers, Diamondbacks, Angels, and Nationals sit with one World Series win each.
Five teams in the league have yet to win a single championship: the San Diego Padres, Tampa Bay Rays, Colorado Rockies, Brewers, and Seattle Mariners.
Here is a list of teams who have won the World Series more than once.
