When and where could Shohei Ohtani make his debut with the Los Angeles Dodgers?
Major League Baseball fans now have the official debut date for Shohei Ohtani with the Los Angeles Dodgers. The team will play against the Padres in Seoul.
Shohei Ohtani made history by signing a contract unparalleled in American sports. The Japanese player will play the next 10 seasons with the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for 700 million dollars. What we found incredible yesterday is that despite having an annual average of 70 million, the two-way player will only receive two million per campaign.
Ohtani will defer $68 million annually so the Dodgers’ front office can assemble a competitive roster. With this, the player will receive 680 million dollars when his contract with the Los Angeles franchise ends, with 68 million yearly from 2034 to 2043.
After revealing this data about contract terms, the Dodgers also revealed the exact date and time when Shohei Ohtani will make his grand debut with one of MLB’s most legendary franchises. The club will clash with National League West foe, the San Diego Padres, on Wednesday, March 20, in Seoul, South Korea, at 6 a.m. ET, per ESPN’s Alex Feuz.
