When do the Boston Red Sox play the Baltimore Orioles in the MLB Little League Classic?
The Little League World Series will have an extra bit of spice for the spectators when the Baltimore Orioles will host the Boston Red Sox in Williamsport
The Baltimore Orioles have had a rough ride over the past few years. They have spent the least amount in MLB on players, and have demonstrated the results in dramatic fashion, by losing games hand over fist.
This year is a funny one, though, on many levels, not least of which is the Orioles sitting 12.5 games back in the AL East, admittedly the toughest division in baseball. Their .518 winning percentage sees the Orioles sit in fourth place, three games above the Boston Red Sox, and somewhat surprisingly, with an outside chance of making the playoffs.
The fans attending the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania will get a treat when the Orioles play a home game against the Red Sox at Bowman Field with a capacity of 2366.
The weekend of August 19-21 sees the bottom end of the AL East slug it out, with both teams desperately needing to take the series in order to keep any hopes alive for Fall ball. After an opening game in Camden Yards, both teams will make the 167 mile trip up Interstate 83 to play game two in front of a very appreciative crowd in Bowman Field.
On Sunday, August 21, the home of Little League baseball will see the first pitch of an MLB game thrown at 7 p.m. Eastern Time, and for those of us not fortunate enough to be in attendance, we will be able to see the game on ESPN.
