While the Dodgers are still coming down from heady high of lifting their eighth MLB title, beating the Yankees in last month’s World Series. the league is busy drawing up the schedule for next season.

Some of the key dates were already established back in the summer, although the most attractive matchups of 2025 will be determined by how the last campaign finished - the Dodgers as champions, the Yankees as runners-up with the Guardians and the Mets as AL and NL runners-up respectively.

What we already know is that Atlanta will host the All-Star weekend. The 95th All-Star Game will take place on Tuesday 15 July 2025, at Truist Park, homes of the Braves.

When does the 2025 MLB regular season start?

We also know the start and finish dates of the new season. The season opener will take place in Japan with the Dodgers and Cubs battling it out in the Tokyo Series as part of the MLB’s World Tour.

It will be the sixth time that the new season has kicked off in the Japanese capital - on the 25th anniversary of the first-ever regular season games played in Japan in 2000 between the Cubs and the New York Mets.

The Tokyo Series will run from March 18-19 2025 with all games to be played at the Tokyo Dome, It will be the first time that four Japanese players have taken part.

When is Opening Day?

The Tokyo Series will be the curtain raiser for the Opening Day when all 30 teams will be in action. The 15-game slate is scheduled for Thursday 27 March 2025 - the earliest start in league history. In the 2025 regular season, each team will play six games against its prime interleague rival instead of four.

Rivalry Weekend will take place on May 16-18 with 11 of the 15 series being matchups between prime Interleague rivals. Some of those include Mets vs Yankees, Angels vs Dodgers, White Sox vs Cubs and Cardinals vs Royals, along with four non-Interleague matchups: including Pirates vs Phillies and Astros vs Rangers.

The 2025 regular season will be concluded on Sunday 28 September.

Pitchers and catchers will report for Spring training which is scheduled to start on Thursday 20 February 2025.
