The Jordan Brand has announced that Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees is the latest MLB star to sign an endorsement contract with the sportswear manufacturer.

Nike’s ‘Jordan’ range has its roots firmly in basketball and originated as the signature shoe of NBA legend Michael Jordan. The success of the Air Jordan shoe has allowed the brand to expand into other fields, notably providing kits for French soccer team Paris Saint-Germain.

The brand is now looking to boost its recognition in baseball and has signed up five MLB players to wear its Jordan Brand gear. Judge has previously worn Jordan-branded sneakers in the MLB, but was also seen in adidas and New Balance gear last year.

Judge’s addition to Jordan’s stable of baseball stars is perhaps their most impressive endorsement yet. He is one of the most well-known names in baseball and his Yankees No. 99 jersey is the fourth-biggest seller in MLB this year.

Which MLB players are signed to Jordan?

Judge’s deal with Jordan was confirmed on Friday, making him the fifth MLB star to sport the brand. He follows Jazz Chisholm Jr. (Miami Marlins), Mookie Betts (Los Angeles Dodgers), Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (Toronto Blue Jays) and Manny Machado (San Diego Padres) to sign with Jordan.

Jordan managed to complete an endorsement contract with Judge after the Yankees star had been without a sportwear deal for some time. In the past he had worn battling gloves made by adidas and Nike, but had been using Jordan Brand gloves exclusively in recent months.

In announcing the deal, Jordan’s ‘Jumpman23′ Instagram account wrote: “All Rise for Air Judge.”

“The captain of the New York Yankees, @thejudge44 continues to add titles to his name as a member of the Jordan Family.”

It’s not known how much Judge stands to make from the Jordan deal, but he is not short on money. The 31-year-old recently put pen to paper on a nine-year $360 million deal with the New York Yankees.
