Grammy winner Ashanti will sing the US national anthem at Yankee Stadium today, before the New York Yankees host the Los Angeles Dodgers in a potentially decisive MLB World Series clash.

Following a 4-2 win in the Big Apple yesterday, the Dodgers head into Game 4 with a 3-0 lead, leaving the Californians just one win from series victory.

Seeking the eighth MLB championship in their history, the Dodgers can become the first team to pull off a World Series whitewash since the San Francisco Giants beat the Detroit Tigers 4-0 in 2012.

Who is Ashanti?

A native of New York, Ashanti is a singer and actor whose 2002 debut album, Ashanti, won a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary R&B Album. The 44-year-old has also been nominated for seven other Grammys during her career, and has had two No. 1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100: 2002’s “Foolish”, and 2001’s “Always on Time”, a record on which she collaborated with Ja Rule.

Ashanti has also appeared in several movies; her latest credit is No Address, an upcoming picture in which she stars alongside William Baldwin, Xander Berkeley and Beverly D’Angelo.
