The LA Dodgers and the New York Yankees will meet for the 12th time in the World Series, with the team from California opening up the best-of-seven match-up on home turf as Game 1 is scheduled for Friday (25 October).

Aaron Boone’s men were 4-1 series winners in the American League Championship Series, and now face a team they have beaten eight times before in the World Series.
The Dodgers last won the World Series in 2020 and are aiming to clinch the MLB title for the eighth time in franchise history.
When these teams last battled it out in a World Series meeting, it was the team from the City of Angels who came out on top securing the win with a 4-2 series triumph came back in 1981.
The Dodgers progressed to the World Series by beating the the other team from the Big Apple as they swept the New York Mets aside 4-2 in the National League Championship Series.

Fans at Dodger Stadium tonight are in for a treat as two Dodgers legend and former World Series MVPs have been enlisted to participate the ceremonial first pitch with both Steve Yeager (1981) and Orel Hershiser (1988) enlisted to do the honours.
