The MLB accounts unveiled the standout players of the week: Dominican Juan Soto of the New York Yankees was chosen from the American League, while Cuban Lourdes Gurriel Jr. of the Arizona Diamondbacks was selected from the National League.

The outfielder boasts a batting average of .529, an OPS of 1.365, secured his first home run, drove in four runs, and crossed the plate twice.

“This is the start I wanted. I worked really hard in the offseason and also during spring training to succeed early in the year. I’m thankful to God that it’s happening my way,” the player said afterwards.
This marks the third occasion that Soto has been recognised as Player of the Week. The first instance was in August 2020, followed by a second time in September 2023.
