Will the Caribbean Baseball Series be played again in the United States?
The 2024 Caribbean Series was held at loanDepot Park, home of the Miami Marlins. Los Tiburones de La Guaira were crowned champions in this successful event.
The 2024 Caribbean Series was held at loanDepot Park, the home of the Miami Marlins of MLB, and it was a great success. The Venezuelan Tiburones de la Guaira team won the grand final against the Tigres del Licey of the Dominican Republic.
There are talks of holding the baseball contest again in the United States for the 2028 edition. The Professional Baseball League of the Dominican Republic (LIDOM), which is responsible for organizing it, is currently negotiating with the Marlins to host it in the city of Florida.
“Bringing the Caribbean Series to Miami means a lot to me. More than three decades have passed since that event was last played in Florida, and doing it now, in an MLB stadium, demonstrates the great interest we have in carrying out this show,” said Chema Sánchez, representative of the Marlins team, before the 2024 edition.
The Caribbean Series was a commercial success, so the other member countries would not take a dim view of the decision that could be made. A year earlier, it was held in the new Caracas baseball stadium, Monumental Simón Bolívar stadium in Venezuela.
