The Yankees have been very busy lately. Last month they picked up Juan Soto from the San Diego Padres, and today it was announced that they finalized a one-year arbitration-avoidance deal with the Dominican wunderkind worth $31 million, surpassing the record of $30 million set last year by Shohei Ohtani.

Soto is eligible for free agency after the 2024 season and is widely expected to sign a multi-year deal in the $500 million neighborhood.

Last season, Soto led San Diego in home runs with 35 and RBIs with 109, while leading all of the Major Leagues in walks drawn at 132.

As if that were not enough for the New York front office, the Yankees also managed to sign all ten of their arbitration-eligible players to one-year deals. As well as Soto, they agreed terms with Nestor Cortes, Victor González, Trent Grisham, Clay Holmes, Jonathan Loáisiga, Clarke Schmidt, Gleyber Torres, Jose Trevino and Alex Verdugo.
